How to Make a Pig JAR

Our classroom teachers have started a new ELA unit in the curriculum: personal narratives. The literature options are PLENTIFUL.

One teacher recommended “I Like Me” by Nancy Carlson where the main character is a pig who really likes herself and shares all the reasons why. We took the opportunity to create a “How to Make a Pig” joint action routine schedule. We also incorporated a writing activity for the older grades at the end of the craft activity.

After reading the Nancy Carlson book, I read the kids a second presentation really emphasizing the differences between pigs and people. “That Pig and I are NOT the Same” features one of my favorite celebrities ( can you name her?) I don’t know that the kids really noticed, but the teachers and I had a good laugh about it.
