F.A.Q.

  • You can start by reaching out to your professor, department chair, or event coordinator with a recommendation to invite me. Provide them with my website link and a brief overview of the topics I cover, such as advocacy, equity, and inclusion in multilingual school settings or culturally responsive practices in speech-language pathology. They can contact me directly through the Contact page on this website to discuss availability, rates, and how we can tailor the session to fit their needs. I’d be honored to inspire and educate your academic community.

  • I am in the process of becoming an official CEU provider with my accreditation organization. While I am not yet an official provider, these workshops are created with professional standards in mind and offer many benefits for your career and personal wellbeing.

  • In a 1-on-1 consultation, you can ask me about a variety of topics tailored to your needs. Common areas include:

    • Culturally and linguistically responsive practices: Guidance on supporting bilingual or multilingual clients in your therapy practice.

    • Case consultations: Strategies for specific cases, including assessments, treatment plans like joint action routine schedules (JARS), or navigating complex language profiles.

    • Professional development: Tips on advancing your skills, building confidence in your bilingual practice, or preparing for a presentation or workshop.

    • Career advice: Insight into the field of speech-language pathology, especially for bilingual professionals or those entering diverse school settings.

    • Resource recommendations: Suggestions for evidence-based materials, books, or tools to enhance your therapy sessions or teaching.

If you have other questions or challenges, let me know, and we can explore how I can best support you.

  • You do not have to be bilingual to use these resources. Each worksheet is designed to be quickly and easily implemented, so all of your students can participate together.

  • The Joint Action Routine Schedule (JARS) is designed to be easy to implement, allowing you to start using it in your classroom quickly! The time it takes depends on your familiarity with the materials and your classroom setup. Most educators can begin integrating JARS after a short review of the resources and instructions. To help you get started:

    • Preparation: Set aside about 1–2 hours to review the JARS guide, routine templates, and supporting materials.

    • Customization: Spend an additional hour tailoring the routines to align with your student's needs, classroom dynamics, and curriculum objectives.

    • Implementation: Once prepared, you can smoothly incorporate JARS into your daily or weekly routines without significant disruption.

If you’d like additional support, I offer training sessions or consultations to help you implement JARS with confidence. With this structured approach, you'll be empowering your students to engage and succeed in no time!

  • This depends on what you are noticing in the home. A young child (9 months) who is not responding to sounds, alerting to his/her name, showing comprehension of simple words, or pointing to call attention to interesting objects, may be showing early signs of a hearing loss or language disorder. Other general guidelines:

    • First Words by 12-15 months

    • Frequent Two-Word Combinations Heard by 21-24 months

    • Frequent Three-Word Combinations Heard by 36 months

    • Intelligible speech in conversation 90% of the time by age 4 years

  • Most clients are seen one to two times per week however this can vary slightly depending on the severity of the disorder. More intensive schedules are occasionally implemented as needed.

  • Sessions are usually scheduled for 30 minutes of direct contact (with 15 additional minutes allotted for preparing and documenting a session.)

  • Caregivers are encouraged to observe therapy sessions; however, many children perform best when working separately from their parents. For those children, parents may be included in treatment sessions for the last 5-10 minutes to understand current objectives and home carryover ideas.

  • While we specialize in school-aged children, we are open to (and have successfully worked with) both early intervention and adult clients.
